Knife Crime Awareness Week 2025: Our Commitment to Prevention, Education and Empowerment
As part of Knife Crime Awareness Week 2025 (20–26 May), the Godwin Lawson Foundation will deliver a powerful programme of activity aimed at engaging, educating, and empowering young people across London.
We have worked with over 10,000 people since our founding, and this week we will continue our mission to reduce knife violence and provide young people with safer, positive alternatives.
Here’s what we’ll be doing:
- On Monday, we will deliver an assembly to 180 students at Enfield Chase School, focusing on the impact of knife crime, peer pressure, and the consequences of negative choices.
- On Tuesday, our founder Yvonne Lawson will attend His Majesty The King’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in recognition of her dedicated work in preventing youth violence and creating safer communities.
- On Wednesday, we will take 25 students from Dukes Academy to see This is England at the National Theatre— offering many of them their first experience of live theatre, as part of our efforts to enrich young lives through culture and broaden their aspirations.
- On Thursday, we will speak with young people taking part in the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s Kicks Football Programme, using sport as a gateway to have honest conversations about knife crime, identity, and positive decision-making.
- On Friday, we will take a group of young people to Wood Green Crown Court for a behind-the-scenes look at the justice system, including conversations with judges and court professionals. On the same day, we will also deliver specialist training to criminal justice practitioners on how to engage with at-risk young people and support them more effectively.
This week is about more than raising awareness. It’s about taking action, sharing knowledge, and building trust so young people feel empowered to make safer, stronger choices for their futures.
We invite you to follow our journey and support our work.
Together, we can create lasting change.
